POSITION SUMMARY:

Network Engineers report to the Director of Engineering.  The position’s primary responsibilities are providing technical support to our clients and building enterprise-grade networks.  The Network Engineer should be comfortable with multitasking and wearing several hats.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Access Networks is the premier provider of enterprise-grade networking solutions for the modern automated home. As such, our Network Engineers must have advanced level knowledge of Ruckus Wireless network systems (including ZoneDirector wireless controllers and Unleashed wireless access points), Ruckus/Brocade ICX switches, Cisco IOS switches and routers, Cisco ASAs and Sophos Firewalls.

  • Open tickets, diagnose, and resolve Tier 1 and Tier 2 issues with remote clients’ networks.
  • Program/provision wired and wireless network systems for deployment at remote sites
  • Provide and maintain thorough documentation of client systems
  • Create and manage client accounts on Ruckus FlexMaster and other management servers
  • Foster a spirit of collaboration with clients and teammates by coaching and sharing knowledge
  • Learn new technologies and products
  • Write/publish KB articles to increase the team's institutional knowledge
  • Process RMAs for defective products.
  • Occasional after-hours emergency support for remote clients (usually ISP issues)

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 3 years networking experience and current CCNA certification (or equivalent)
  • Advanced understanding of network protocols, firewalls, routers, switching, TCP/IP, STP and RF coverage
  • Advanced understanding of wireless local area networks, authentication, security, and encryption protocols
  • Experience supporting customer environments in a helpdesk/support capacity
  • Fanatical attention to detail, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Must possess excellent written/verbal communication skills and be a team player
  • Must be very personable
  • Able to solve complex technical problems while under pressure and interfacing with clients
  • Must have great organizational skills
  • Able to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Availability nights/weekends as needed

 

PLUSES:

  • Residential custom electronics design/integration experience and familiarity with home automation systems such as Crestron, Savant, AMX, and Control4
  • Ruckus Wireless Solutions Engineer (WiSE), CWNA/CWNP, ICX/Brocade certifications or equivalent experience
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting Ruckus ZoneDirector environments
  • Experience with TeamViewer or other remote desktop support applications
  • Working knowledge of ConnectWise
  • Python, VBScript, JavaScript, or other scripting experience
  • Apple or Microsoft certifications
  • VPN and SSH experience
  • Web development / database experience

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
